Yunnan rail route ideas when spring rain changes hiking plans

I planned a five-day Yunnan trip around short hikes near Dali and Lijiang, but the forecast now shows rain across most of the route. I still want to keep the trip because the trains and rooms are already booked, and I enjoy slower city days if there is enough to do.

My current route is Kunming for one night, Dali for two nights, then Lijiang for two nights before flying out. I am looking for rail-friendly ideas that work in wet weather: markets, museums, tea houses, old town walks under cover, or easy side trips where muddy trails are not the main attraction. I am also curious whether it is worth changing one Dali night to Kunming if the lakefront paths are likely to be washed out.

Keep Dali if you already have a room inside or near the old town. Rainy afternoons are still pleasant around Renmin Road and the smaller cafes, and you can do short breaks between showers without needing a full hiking day.

Kunming has better indoor options. The Yunnan Provincial Museum and the flower market can fill a wet day, and food choices are easier when you do not want to cross town in heavy rain. I would add time there only if your Dali hotel is inconvenient.

For Lijiang, look at Baisha instead of trying to force a mountain day. It is quieter, taxis are simple, and you can still get a sense of the landscape if the clouds lift for an hour.
