How much time to leave between Beijing rail stations

I am looking at a route that arrives at Beijing South at 13:04 and leaves from Beijing North at 15:05. The ticket site suggests the transfer, but I am unsure how tight it feels in practice with luggage.

Is two hours enough if I use the subway, or should I pick the later departure and avoid rushing?

Two hours can work, but it is not relaxed. You need time to exit the platform, reach the subway, ride across town, pass security again, and find the gate. I would only do it with a small bag.

I made a similar transfer last autumn and chose a later train. South station was easy, but North station security had a long queue. The extra hour made the day feel much better.

If the later departure still gets you to your destination before evening, take it. Beijing transfers are simple once you know the layout, but the first visit always takes longer than expected.
