Does a permanent residence card work for app verification in China?

My family just received our permanent residence cards, so I assumed daily admin tasks would get easier from here.

The first problem I ran into is app verification. I tried using the card with one of the apps I use regularly, but the system still seems to expect a Chinese ID card number instead.

So legally I now have the residence status, but in practice some platforms still do not know how to handle the document. Has anyone here run into the same issue with ride-hailing, finance, telecom, or other apps?

I am trying to understand whether this is app-specific or still a common problem for permanent residents in China.

This still happens with some apps. The legal status may be accepted by government systems, but commercial platforms often only build their verification flow around Chinese ID cards and passports.
