Choosing travel cover for a Sanya trip during rainy season

I am planning a short Sanya trip with my parents in early summer. We can handle normal rain, but flight delays and hotel changes would be difficult because one parent has limited mobility. I am comparing domestic travel cover options sold through airline and wallet apps, and the wording around weather delays is not very clear to me.

+For people who have bought travel cover for Hainan trips, what clauses should I read carefully before paying? I am especially interested in flight delay payout rules, hotel cancellation support, and whether medical transport inside China is usually included or treated as a separate add-on.

Read the delay trigger carefully. Some policies pay only after a delay reaches a fixed number of hours, and they may require the airline delay certificate rather than a screenshot from the flight app. I would also check whether the payout is per passenger or per booking.

Hotel cancellation support can be narrower than expected. The policy I bought covered cancellation when the flight was officially canceled, but not when I personally decided to arrive one day later after a long delay. A flexible hotel rate may matter more than the travel cover for that part.

For limited mobility, call the airline and hotel directly after buying tickets. Insurance is useful for money after something goes wrong, but wheelchair service, ground transport, and room access need to be arranged ahead of time. Medical transport was an add-on in the policy I saw, not part of the basic delay package.
