Taking luggage through Wuhan metro during the morning rush

I need to travel from Hankou to Wuchang railway station with one medium suitcase and a backpack on a weekday morning. The rail ticket is around 10:30, so the easiest route would put me on the metro during the busy part of the commute. I know security screening is routine, but I have not tried it with luggage in Wuhan before.

+Would it be reasonable to use the metro at that hour, or is it better to book a car and risk traffic across the river? I am mostly concerned about station crowding, lifts, and whether there are transfer points that are especially hard with a suitcase.

The metro is manageable if you leave earlier than the route planner suggests. Security screening with a suitcase is normal; you put the bag through the scanner and walk through. The harder part is getting space on the platform. I would aim to arrive at Wuchang station at least forty minutes before departure.

Avoid tight transfers if your route gives you a choice. Some stations have lifts, but they can be tucked away from the main flow and you may need an extra few minutes to find them. A medium suitcase is fine, but two large bags would push me toward a car.

Traffic across the river can be unpredictable in the morning, especially if there is rain. I have missed a comfortable arrival window by car before. For one suitcase, I would take the metro, stand near the end of the platform where it is less packed, and keep the backpack in front of you.
