Spring humidity in my Nanjing apartment got much worse after a week of warm rain. The walls were fine, but the window tracks and the inside of two closets stayed damp even when the air conditioner was running in dry mode. I thought the issue was only the weather until I noticed one balcony window seal had a small gap near the latch.
The landlord sent a repair worker who replaced the strip seal and added silicone around the outside frame. That helped, but the bigger improvement came from changing my routine: short ventilation in the late morning, closets open during dry mode, and a small dehumidifier near the north-facing bedroom wall. I also moved cardboard boxes off the floor because they were holding moisture.
If you are renting in an older compound, it may be worth checking the window seals before buying more appliances. Are there any local products or routines that have worked well for people in Jiangsu during the rainy season?
